Frequently Asked Questions...

How much is a cake?

This is the question we are asked most.  Our cakes start at £46, but all cakes are different so we need some information to be able to answer.  

 

The best place to start is to tell us;

* When the cakes is for (so we know if there's a space in the diary)

* How many people the cake needs to feed (how big)

* What style you have in mind (buttercream/sugarpaste/naked + design/theme)...add photos if you have them

* If for a big event or wedding, where the cake needs to be delivered to

* If you have an ideal budget (so we know where to pitch the design ideas)

What area do you cover and do you deliver?

Kasserina Cakes is based on the south coast of England in Littlehampton, between Chichester and Brighton.  

 

For large cakes and wedding cakes we generally deliver within a (roughly) 50 mile radius.  We limit the distance for reasons of minimising risk and delivery costs and because to be on the road for extended time during busy periods limits our overall booking capacity.  For larger orders, distances can be extended within reasonable parameters.

 

If you are collecting the cake, please be aware that you will need to transport any cake VERY carefully.  Cakes must be placed on a flat surface (not on the back seat), so the boot of your car is generally the best place.  Boxes should not be pressed on from any angle and cakes should only be held from underneath. Some cakes may include additional internal structure to help with transportation.  We will provide care information on collection, please do follow the guidence.  If you prefer delivery, please let us know asap.

Do you do consultations?

If you'd like to meet up, a consultation (including tasters) is £12.  Tasters can also be mailed for £10, if that's easier.  I usually arrange consultations for Mondays (daytime) or Tuesdays (daytime and early evening).

 

My next available dates would be 1st or 2nd October.

 

If you are nearby, I can come to you or if you are further afield we can meet in a cafe of pub between the two locations.  I’m based in Littlehampton.

 

If you'd like to book a consultation it's £12 which includes tasters of 2 kinds of sponge.   Additional taster flavours can be added for £2.50 each.  

 

Because meeting up is not always easy for clients, and because there is a limit to the range of flavours it’s possible to bake in tiny batches for face-to-face consultations, I periodically makes mailing tasters in batches to be sent out en mass.  

 

Not all of the flavours that I can supply can be accommodated in these baking sessions due to logistics (basically the whole list is far too big for it to be practical).  This is to ensure that you receive fresh cake, representative of our flavours, rather than sub-standard frozen cake.

How do we book?

If you are planning on booking a large cake and you'd like to meet up, a consultation (including tasters of two flavours) is £12.  I usually arrange consultations for Mondays (daytime or Tuesdays (daytime and early evening) due to the demands of baking, decorating and delivering on other days.

We know that many people don't relish the idea of having to eat lots of icing and we understand that.  The important thing to remember is that icing of any kind around the outside of a cake serves 3 purposes:

​

* It keeps the cake fresh

* It is for decorative purposes

* It is good to eat

​

To be honest, we don't eat all the icing from the outside of any cake.

Do you charge more for wedding cakes?

I don't load wedding cake costs. There are some costs that may not apply to smaller cakes, like on site set-up, but costs are based on the work and materials involved in each cake so all my cakes are costed out using the same pricing structure.  I try to make the whole thing transparent so give you a breakdown of the costs for different elements when quoting.

I should add, despite rumours to the contrary, it is simply not standard practice in the wedding industry to load costs for weddings and in the few cases where it has been seen, reputable suppliers have tended to disassociate from those businesses.
