Supplier Profile - Sally of Events By Design
In the second of our Supplier Profiles, I'm very happy to introduce the wonderful Sally Gallis of Events By Design. Having worked with Sally, I can say first hand that she's both thoroughly lovely and superbly diligent. As you can see from the photos below, her styling vision and attention to detail is truly amazing. What you can't see is that she is just so easy to talk to, totally proactive and creates a wedding day to fit you instead of fitting you into a "standard" wedding! She is someone that can take the vision of a bespoke wedding and make it a beautiful reality for you.

What is your "unique selling point"?
Offering clients the opportunity to have a service and package created to deliver their unique set of needs and desires.
What area do you cover?
I am based in West Sussex and normally cover Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire and Kent, but happy to travel anywhere!

Tell us about you?
I am a wife, a mother of 6 (a mix of my own and my step children),
a lover of four legged friends, seaside and nature.
What is your background?
Before going into wedding planning and design I spent 20 years as a
Drama Teacher and Theatre Director for Secondary and A Level children
which gave me so many skills that I now use in my new career.
I loved working with young people and in such a creative way.
I wanted to change direction a while ago and it wasn’t until planning
my own wedding that it solidified my decision. I studied and now hold an
Advanced Diploma in Special Event Planning and Design. I have the
time to have a career which I can manage, keep my finger on the pulse of
new trends and styles and work with couples to create the happiest day of their lives. It’s not bad really.
What is your favourite thing about your job?
Being able to work with cool couples and amazingly talented creatives.

What do you wish you were better at?
(absolutely does not have to be work related).
Sport, cooking, dancing…I could go on…
Give a fun random fact about yourself.
I can do impressions of a Chimpanzee and a Dove.
...your favourite place is?
Either Cornwall’s beaches, The Whitsunday Islands in Australia or home.

Can you sing?
I thought I could but I actually don’t think I can!
Can you draw?
I can, but I am certainly no Picasso.
What is your favourite food?
Anything Mediterranean

Describe your dream holiday.
Travelling around Australia again or around the Indian Ocean,
but staying in nice hotels rather than hostels like last time!
What makes you happy?
Spring and spending time with friends and family. I’m quite a simple girl really.
What are you most proud of?
My family
What is your favourite season and why?
Spring without a doubt.
It’s not too hot and I love seeing the new leaves on the trees and the flowers emerging. It’s good for the soul and makes me feel optimistic about the future.

What is your top tip for anyone planning their wedding?
I have two: don’t feel that you have to do it on your own; wedding planning can sometimes feel quite overwhelming, especially if you’re busy people.
My second is to do it your way. If you want a disco ball over your top table or a brass band serenading you, then do it!

A big thank you to Sally for giving us a little insight into her world. Do click on the links above to see more of her work, and to get in touch. The job of wedding planner is often misunderstood to my mind. Once you see them at work you realise the extent to which they save you money, reduce risk and massively save your stress. They give you time to enjoy your day (and the planning period) without having to worry and really make the whole thing a magical experience for you. Definitely worth a conversation!
By the way... if you missed the Your Sussex Wedding Magazine feature on a recent Brighton wedding that Sally and I worked , you can see it here: https://www.county.wedding/image_upload/flippingbook/YSXW84/
